WELCOME TO THE EVOLUTION SECTION
ARTEFACT: CLADOGRAM OF THE GALAPAGOS BOOBIES.
An artefact that can be used to represent the evolution course is a cladogram. We had a lesson in class to learn about cladogram’s and how to make one which we demonstrated in our evolution Galapagos boobies summative, this or summative for the evolution unit. A cladogram is significant to this course because it is a clear way to show information and demonstrate how multiple species can evolve from one ancestor. In the Galapagos summative we had to make three cladogram’s all displaying the order in which the four Galapagos boobies evolved and what traits or accumulation of traits deemed them a new species. From that summative I learned how even though difficult to make, cladogram’s show a clear map of an evolutionary process. A cladogram is used in real life for professionals that study evolution such as paleontologists or ecologists. As they discover new species they can try to add them into a cladogram based on the traits they obtain; then they can uncover roughly when the species evolved related to other species. A cladogram helped me understand this unit better as it was a clear way of understanding how through natural selection and natural process, new traits can create a new species.
